What Is CBG and How Does It Differ from CBD?
The quick answer
CBG (cannabigerol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid nicknamed the “mother of cannabinoids” — its acidic form (CBGA) is what the plant converts into CBD, THC and other cannabinoids. Mature plants usually contain very little of it, which is why high-CBG varieties are considered a specialty.

Why CBG is “rare”
As the plant grows, it continuously converts CBGA into other cannabinoids — by harvest time, little remains. High-CBG varieties are therefore the result of deliberate breeding or earlier harvesting, and the yield is smaller. That is why CBG products are usually rarer and more expensive.

Research on CBG is still in its early stages — mostly laboratory and animal studies, with very few clinical ones. Honestly put: science is only just learning what CBG is and what (if anything) it means for humans. Anyone selling a “CBG cure” today is getting ahead of the facts.
