What Is CBD and How Does It Differ From THC?

Difference between CBD and THC — SmokyHub

Smoky here. 🌿 If you’ve ever stared at the labels CBD and THC and wondered whether they’re the same thing — you’re not alone. Many people think everything that comes from hemp is identical. It isn’t. Let’s break it down calmly, so next time you’ll know exactly what you’re talking about.

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the main natural cannabinoids in hemp. Cannabinoids are compounds the plant naturally produces — and CBD is the best known among them. The key point: CBD is not psychoactive. That means it doesn’t cause a feeling of intoxication or a “high”. It’s simply one of the most popular and most researched compounds in hemp.

What is THC?

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is another cannabinoid — and it’s the one responsible for the psychoactive effect, the “high” people associate with marijuana. Marijuana contains a lot of THC (1 to 30%), while industrial hemp contains very little (below the legal limit). That’s the essential difference between the two plants.

How do CBD and THC differ?

Although both come from the same plant family, in practice they’re completely different:

  • Psychoactivity: CBD doesn’t cause intoxication. THC does.
  • Source: Industrial hemp is high in CBD and low in THC. Marijuana is high in THC.
  • Legality: Products from industrial hemp with THC below 0.3% are sold in Slovenia in line with applicable regulations. Marijuana is regulated.

The easiest way to remember: CBD is the calm part of hemp without the high; THC is the part that gets you “high”.

Will CBD get me “high”?

No. Because CBD is not psychoactive and our buds contain only minimal amounts of THC (under 0.3%), they won’t get you “high”. The dominant cannabinoid in our products is CBD. You’ll find more in our FAQ.

What does this mean for SmokyHub buds?

All our buds come from industrial hemp from our own cultivation — we grow it, hand-harvest it and dry it naturally. The THC content is below the legal limit (0.3%), with natural CBD dominating. No shortcuts, no artificial additives.

That means you get a clean, natural product — the way a hemp flower should be. If you want to know who’s behind it all, meet Smoky and the crew.

To wrap up

So CBD and THC aren’t the same thing — everywhere you see our products, we’re talking about CBD from industrial hemp, not intoxication. Now you know the difference and can choose with a clear head.

Frequently asked questions about CBD and THC

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, one of the natural cannabinoids found in hemp. It is not psychoactive, which means it does not cause intoxication.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

Both are cannabinoids from the same plant, but they act on the body differently. THC is psychoactive and legally restricted; CBD is not psychoactive. Industrial hemp that may be grown in the EU does not exceed 0.3% THC under Regulation (EU) 2021/2115.

Can CBD get me high?

No. CBD does not produce a feeling of intoxication. That is tied to THC, which in industrial hemp products stays below the legal limit.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

Drug tests generally look for THC, not CBD. Since industrial hemp products contain trace amounts of THC, there is no absolute certainty — if you are subject to testing, check with whoever administers it.

Is CBD legal?

Selling products made from certified industrial hemp with THC below the legal limit is permitted in the EU, though details vary by country. For Slovenia specifically, see Is CBD legal in Slovenia?
