This article is for information purposes only. All SmokyHUB products are aromatic products made from industrial hemp — they are not medicines, not foodstuffs, and not intended for smoking. They are intended exclusively for adults.
Quick answer (for those in a hurry)
CBD hash is an aromatic concentrate: soften the slab between your fingers at room temperature, pinch off a small piece and use it as a source of aroma — in a small scent dish, in an aromatic blend with hemp flowers, or simply as part of your daily ritual. It is not intended for smoking or ingestion. Below, step by step: how to handle it, how much to use, which mistakes to avoid and how to store it. 👇

First things first: what is CBD hash for?
We sell CBD hash as an aromatic product — you buy it for its scent, its texture and the tradition it carries. That is not label small print but the frame for everything in this guide: hash is here to be smelled, shaped and built into your moments, not to be smoked or eaten. What hash actually is and how it is made, we explained in What is CBD hash?
Handling basics: softening, pinching, crumbling
- Softening: hold the piece between your palms for a minute — body heat softens the resin until it is pliable like wax. You do not need an open flame or heaters, and we advise against them.
- Pinching: from the softened slab, pinch off a piece the size of a peppercorn to a pea with your fingers or a clean knife — for aroma, that is plenty.
- Crumbling: if you want the scent to release faster, crumble the piece between your fingers into smaller flakes; more surface means a more pronounced aroma.
Resin is sticky by nature: work with clean, dry fingers and wipe your tools after use — dried residue comes off easiest with a few drops of cooking oil, then soap.
Why no flame and no heating?
Terpenes — the molecules that carry the aroma — are volatile and heat-sensitive. Even moderate heat drives them into the air in one burst instead of letting them release over weeks, and the surface of the resin oxidises and goes dull. The warmth of your palms (around 36 °C) is exactly right: it softens the resin without damaging the aroma. The best “tool” for hash is the one you always carry — your hands.
Three aromatic ways to use it
1. A scent dish
The simplest way: place a small crumbled piece in an open glass or ceramic dish on your table, shelf or bedside table. The resin slowly releases a deep, earthy-spicy scent — more discreet than incense sticks and with no smoke. When the scent fades after a few days, knead the piece lightly between your fingers to expose a fresh layer.
2. An aromatic blend with hemp flowers
Crumble a piece of hash among dried hemp flowers in an open dish — the potpourri principle: the flowers bring freshness and strain character, the resin brings depth and staying power. How to handle the flowers themselves is covered in our guide How to use hemp flowers.
3. Part of your ritual
For many people the greatest value of hash is the ritual itself: a minute of softening between the palms, smelling, shaping the piece. Each of our three hashes is designed for its own moment of the day — morning, an afternoon break, or slowing the pace in the evening. No rush, no screen, just the aroma and a moment for yourself.
How much to use at once?
Less than you think. A peppercorn-sized piece is enough for a scent dish, a pea-sized piece for a blend with flowers. Because resin ages slowly and the scent is concentrated, a 1-gram slab lasts for weeks used this way — which makes hash surprisingly economical despite the higher price per gram.
A mini ritual in three minutes (an example)
- Minute 1: take the slab out of its container and hold it between your palms. Meanwhile, the water boils for your coffee or tea.
- Minute 2: pinch off a peppercorn-sized piece, crumble it between your fingers and place it in the dish. The rest goes back into the packaging.
- Minute 3: put the dish where you will spend the next half hour — table, shelf, a windowsill away from the sun. Smell, breathe, start the day.
That is the whole “recipe”. No equipment, no smoke, no hurry — three minutes and an aroma that stays.
Hash as a collector’s piece and a gift
Part of the charm of hash is purely collectible: three slabs in three colours — light, brown and almost black — look like a small tasting collection on a shelf. Each carries its own character, texture and scent signature, which is why many compare them the way coffee lovers compare roasters. And because they are compact, nicely packaged and legal, they also make an unusual but safe gift for curious adults — add a link to the quiz and the recipient will find out which Smoky they are.
Mistakes to avoid
- Smoking or ingesting: our hash is not intended for either — it is an aromatic product. Full stop.
- Storing somewhere warm: on a radiator or in the sun the resin softens and the terpenes evaporate — the scent fades within days.
- Leaving the container open: the aroma is volatile; keep whatever you are not using sealed airtight.
- Dirty tools and fingers: resin binds dust and fibres; whatever sticks, stays.
- Cutting up the whole slab in advance: crumbled hash ages faster — pinch off as you go.
Afterwards: storage
Wrap the unused part of the slab back in its original packaging or put it in a small sealed glass jar, then somewhere cool, dark and dry. The detailed rules (and why they are worth following) are in our storage guide — the same ones apply to resin as to flowers.
On the road and when visiting
Hash is the most travel-friendly form of hemp: a piece in its original packaging or a small glass jar takes up less space than a lipstick and gives off practically no smell when closed. A weekend at a friend’s or a work trip within the country is no problem. If you cross a border, check the destination country’s rules first — we will dedicate a separate article to travelling with CBD in the EU soon.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Can I smoke CBD hash?
No. Our hash is an aromatic product and is not intended for smoking. Use it as a source of aroma — in a scent dish, a blend, or as part of a ritual.
Can I add CBD hash to tea or food?
No — our hash is not a foodstuff and is not intended for ingestion. Preparing an infusion from hemp flowers is described in a separate guide.
How do I soften a hard piece of hash?
Between your palms: a minute or two of body heat is enough to make the resin pliable. We advise against open flames and heaters — they damage the terpenes and with them the aroma.
How long does the scent last in a dish?
It depends on the size of the piece and the room — usually a few days; then refresh the surface by kneading the piece lightly or crumbling a fresh layer.
Does the resin leave marks on my fingers?
Yes, hash is naturally sticky. Remove residue with a few drops of cooking oil, then wash your hands with soap — water alone will not do.
Does the scent bother pets?
Animals have a more sensitive sense of smell than we do, so place the dish out of their reach and watch how they react. Aromatic products are intended for people — make sure your pet cannot get to the resin.
Is using CBD hash legal?
Yes — hash from industrial hemp with less than 0.3% THC is legally available as an aromatic product for adults. Details in our guide to the legality of CBD.
Be happy, be smoky. 💛
