Quick answer (for those in a hurry)
More myths circulate about hemp than about any other plant — in both directions: some demonise it, others ascribe miracles to it. The truth is more boring and more interesting at once: industrial hemp with less than 0.3% THC is not a drug and does not get you high, it is not the same as marijuana, it is legally available as an aromatic product for adults — and at the same time it is not a miracle cure. Below we break down the most common myths, with facts and without euphoria. 👇

Myth 1: “CBD gets you high”
Truth: no. CBD (cannabidiol) is not psychoactive in the sense of intoxication — the molecule that causes the high in cannabis is THC. The industrial hemp our products are made from contains less than 0.3% THC, far below the threshold of any psychoactive effect. We unpacked the difference between the two molecules in What is CBD and how does it differ from THC.
Myth 2: “Industrial hemp and marijuana are the same thing”
Truth: the same plant species, two completely different worlds. Botanically both are Cannabis sativa L., but selection has driven them apart: marijuana is bred for high THC, industrial hemp for low THC and a wealth of other components — fibres, seeds, CBD and terpenes. Think wolf and labrador: a common ancestor, incomparable characters.
Myth 3: “CBD products are illegal anyway”
Truth: products made from industrial hemp with less than 0.3% THC are legally available. The condition is that they are marketed in line with the regulations — in our case as aromatic products for adults, without health claims. The whole legal picture is laid out in our guide Is CBD legal in Slovenia?
Myth 3b: “If it’s legal, there are no rules”
Truth: legal means regulated, not unattended. Industrial hemp products play by clear rules: the THC limit, labelling requirements, an age restriction and a ban on health claims. Those very rules are the reason you can buy the products openly, with a receipt and a lab analysis — instead of “from someone who knows someone”. Regulation is not an obstacle; it is the foundation of trust.
Myth 4: “Hemp is a modern fad”
Truth: hemp is one of humanity’s oldest cultivated plants. Ropes, sails, textiles, paper and seed for food — hemp was grown for millennia, from China across Europe to our own region, where it was an ordinary agricultural crop as recently as a hundred years ago. What is modern is not the interest in it but, if anything, the interruption in the 20th century. Today’s return of industrial hemp is really a return to normality.
Myth 5: “Darker hash is better (or stronger)”
Truth: colour tells the story of the process, not of quality. A darker slab means more pressing and surface oxidation, a lighter one fine sifting and younger resin — both can be excellent. Quality is decided by the raw material, the aroma and the lab analysis, not the shade. How resin is made and why pieces differ, you can read in How is hash made.
Myth 6: “CBD is a miracle cure for everything”
Truth: no — and whoever sells you that is not selling honestly. This myth is the mirror image of demonisation and does the same damage. CBD is the subject of lively scientific research, but our products are aromatic products, not medicines — you buy them for the scent, the texture and the ritual. Any seller promising cures is breaking the rules and your trust. Our rule is simple: no promises, just aromas.
Myth 7: “All hemp smells the same”
Truth: two strains can differ like a lemon and black pepper. A strain’s smell is determined by terpenes — aromatic molecules you know from citrus, conifers and spices. Their ratios are the reason our three characters have three completely different aroma signatures. We mapped the whole terpene world in our guide to hemp aromas.
Three quick myths from everyday life
“Hemp products stink up the whole house.” In an airtight container, flowers and resin give off minimal smell — problems come only from careless storage in bags and open jars.
“CBD flowers are just ordinary grass from a field.” Flower strains of industrial hemp are the product of long selection: grown like ornamental crops, hand-harvested, slowly dried and cured — separated from “grass” by roughly as much work as fine wine from table grapes.
“Everything on the labels is made up.” That is exactly what the batch lab analysis is for: an independent paper you can request and verify. A seller without an analysis is a myth; a seller with one is verifiable.
A quick reality test: three questions
Whenever you meet a claim about hemp, run it through three questions. First: does the claim distinguish between THC and CBD, and between marijuana and industrial hemp? If not, it is probably a generalisation. Second: does it promise effects or cures? Serious sellers of aromatic products do not do that. Third: can it be verified — with the law, an analysis or a botanical fact? Whatever fails all three is a myth; whatever holds is information.
Why do the myths persist?
Because hemp spent decades in a grey zone between prohibition and folklore, the information vacuum filled with rumours — in both directions. The best antidote is boring: verifiable facts, lab analyses, clear labelling and sellers who also tell you what a product is NOT. That is why every one of our batches comes with an analysis, and every description with a clear label: an aromatic product for adults.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Are hemp myths dangerous?
They are harmful in both directions: demonisation drives people away from legal, verifiable products, while euphoric exaggeration creates unrealistic expectations and dishonest sellers. The healthy middle is informed choice.
Can I fail a drug test after using CBD products?
Tests look for THC or its metabolites. Our products are aromatic and not intended for ingestion or smoking — with the intended use (smelling, ritual) the substance does not enter the body the way it does with consumption.
Is CBD a drug?
Not in the sense of intoxication: CBD is not psychoactive like THC. Industrial hemp with less than 0.3% THC is not a prohibited drug and is legally available as an aromatic product.
Does hemp in a garden mean marijuana?
Not necessarily — but cultivation is regulated and subject to conditions (varieties, permits, purpose). What you buy from us is a product of registered industrial hemp varieties with a batch analysis.
Is it true that light-coloured hash is not real hash?
Not true. Light, finely sifted slabs are the classic of dry sifting; dark ones are more pressed and oxidised. Both are “real” hash — the difference is in the process and the aroma.
Where do I check what is in a product?
In the lab analysis (COA) of the specific batch — how to read one in two minutes, we explained in our COA reading guide.
Be happy, be smoky. 💛
